World, Welcome the Newest Backstreet Boy

Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson announced the birth of his second son, Maxwell, on Facebook Thursday, writing, “Maxwell Haze Richardson decided to join the party. He is a stout 9 lbs. 8 oz. / 23 inches long. Love! Love! Love!” The band wrote on their Website Thursday afternoon, “HUGE congrats to the Richardson family!! Looks like we’ve got a new little Backstreet Boy on our hands. Everyone can’t wait to meet you Maxwell!”

A new baby is only one of many big announcements made by the boy band in the last year, and it seems Backstreet is back in a very big way.

Twenty years ago (1993) the Backstreet Boys formed and quickly rose to superstardom, eventually becoming the best-selling boy band in history. In April 2012 they announced that Kevin Richardson was once again a permanent member of the group (after departing in 2006). Shortly after, in August, BSB closed Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series with their first performance as a five-piece--pulling in GMA’s largest audience in the show’s history.

The new baby also comes weeks before the release of their eighth album on July 30 (now available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon). The album, In a World Like This, is the legendary group’s first album release since 2009, and their first album in eight years featuring the original BSB line-up.
As if a new album wasn’t enough, the Backstreet Boys will soon launch their In a World Like This world tour, kicking off in Chicago on August 2. It will be their first tour since 2006 and is already sold out in several US cities.
