If there is one thing that every professional athlete should know, its that every bit of news must go through the proper chain of command before it is leaked to the media. This allows everyone to get their story straight before it is leaked to the media. Unfortunately, Alex Rodriguez has broken protocol and it has landed him in hot water with Yankees general manager Brian Cashman.

Rodriguez has been out all year on the disabled list due to hip surgery that he had last winter. Recently he has been rehabbing the injury in simulated games until he received clearance from team doctors to take his rehab to the next step with actual in-game action. The controversy arose when Rodriguez took to Twitter to announce to his followers that his surgeon has cleared him to play in rehab games. While one may think that this is news the Yankees would be happy about, the reaction from Brian Cashman seems to suggest otherwise.
When asked about the tweet Cashman was clearly irritated. His response was short and snappy as he told reporters that Alex should just keep his mouth shut, saying that the Yankees would make any announcements regarding injuries when they are ready. He continued to say that the team doctors have not officially cleared Rodriguez to play.
As if this is not enough drama, Rodriguez was already in hot water with the team after his name was put on the list of around 100 other major league-rs who have known ties to a Florida anti-aging clinic responsible for providing performance enhancing drugs. Rodriguez has already admitted to using performance enhancing drugs back in 2003 when he was with the Texas Rangers and under a record setting 10 year, 252 million dollar contract. The Yankees are not happy with the bad publicity that this caused, and his recent comments have shown that Rodriguez and the Yankees have a relationship that is on the rocks. Hopefully Rodriguez will be cleared to enter rehab games soon, although Cashman would not give a set timeline for this to happen. It will be interesting to see if and when Rodriguez comes back to a Yankee lineup that is missing nearly all of their power hitters.
Even though the Yankees are missing the big bats of Rodriguez and Texeria, they are very much in the playoff hunt this year. Catch the action live by buying your Yankees Tickets today!
