Derek Jeter Announces 2014 as Last Season


The New York Yankee's Derek Jeter has announced that 2014 will be his last season with the team. He is currently the team's shortstop and captain. Hal Steinbrenner, the managing general partner, stated that the announcement will give fans plenty of time to say goodbye to Jeter and see him play one last time. His last game will be on Sunday, September 28th at Fenway Park in Boston.

Overall Jeter has 256 home runs, 3,316 hits, and a batting average of .312. He is also a five time World Series champion.

Spring training begins for the team on February 26th where they will play the Pittsburgh Pirates at the McKechnie Field in Florida.
